OVERVIEW

The Avalanche Elite is a heavy-duty snow plow that will fit almost any vehicle that has a 2″ class III front mount receiver. The Avalanche Elite snow plows are designed for ease of use and most importantly — strength. DK2 is a brand with an excellent reputation across a range of prosumer products, such as: winches, trailers, power equipment, air compressors and auto supplies.

This is designed for landowners with large areas of property to clear snow from. In the manual it explicitly states:

NOT DESIGNED FOR TRANSPORTATION ON PUBLIC ROADS. In most jurisdictions, driving on highways with a plow attached to your vehicle requires a lighting kit with turn signals as well as a safety retention chain to prevent the plow falling off the vehicle.

If this is your first time buying a snow plow it’s important that you follow the guidelines from DK2. For safety reasons (and legal) you need to ensure the total weight of your vehicle including the snow plow do not exceed your gross axle weight rating (GAWR) and gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). The plow itself, after it’s assembled weighs 296 lbs.

In addition, depending on your vehicle, you might need to use a ballast to counter the extra weight the snow plow will add to the front of your vehicle. Your manufacturer will have guidelines for the weight ratio of front and rear axles. You’ll have to use a ballast to balance your vehicle. Essentially, a ballast is a fancy way of saying “add extra weight.” Using a ballast implies a measured approach. DK2 recommends using sand bags as the ballast.

You know your vehicle best. I’m just here to tell you to make sure you know the limitations of your vehicle and it’s up to you to calculate the most appropriate size and weight for your snow plow.There are a wide range of sizes for you to choose from when you consider all brands.

What is ISO 9001 Certified? Basically, it means that the company has been audited to meet all of the standards contained with ISO 9001. For example, if you’re buying a snow plow you probably want feel confident that the plow won’t break while you’re using it. You always want to be certain that the attachment mechanism has been thoroughly tested.

If you know the company has been certified as an ISO 9001 manufacturer it means they have thoroughly tested the snow plow. It means they’ve used the appropriate grade steel to ensure it won’t bend or break when being used under extreme conditions. It means the attachment mechanism has been tested under load and met high standard for build strength and engineering. You might think that all companies build their products to the highest standards but that’s simply not true.

Companies who sell cheap generic products that you often see online, and on Amazon, are not using certified 9001 factories to build their snow plows or other products that can cause serious damage if they fail. Overall, this 48″ snow plow from Husqvarna is the obvious choice if you already own a Husqvarna lawn tractor; although it does not fit every model. Here are the compatible Husqvarna tractor models. Please make sure your tractor is on the list before you buy this snow plow.

Generally speaking , customers are quite happy with the 588181302. It should take you no more than one hour to install. It will arrive about 50% pre-built, which means you’ll have to assemble the other 50%. Some customers had difficulties installing the snow plow but they don’t share which tractor they owned so it’s impossible to determine if the problem was caused by them owning an incompatible Husqvarna tractor or something else.

The Weather is Unpredictable

As you may have noticed, global weather patterns are changing rapidly. Nowadays, when it rains it pours, arid regions are becoming drought-stricken and if you live in a city along the snowbelt, you have a greater risk of being buried by winter storms. My suggestion is to hope for the best BUT prepare for the worst. You’ll sleep better at night if you follow my advice.

An ATV snow plow is basically a blade or snow plow that can be equipped onto an ATV or a UTV to clear away snow from walkways, driveways, etc. They come in many different forms and sizes, although for a typical ATV that is under 455 cubic centimeters, you would generally go with a blade that is 50” – 75”. Anything larger may not be sufficient for the amount of effort it would take your engine to clear away a path and too short of a blade could leave snow to get in the tires of your ATV and slow you down.

If you’re a novice to snow plows, then may I suggest that you go with this one? It requires very minimal assembly to get the plow blade hooked up onto your ATV. The Uni-mount is designed for a universal fit that can be mounted onto at least 90% of ATV models and there’s a reference guide that you can look to see if the ATV or UTV you own is compatible.

A quick-release mechanism easily allows you to remove the plow blade and push tubes so you can use your ATV for other purposes without having to uninstall the mount. Convenient, yes? This may be especially convenient for those times when you happen to find yourself taking out the plow every day to clear away the snow

The blade can be easily adjusted to 6 different positions so you can push snow at multiple angles for maximum efficiency. To adjust the angle of the blade, it’s as easy as moving the pin and angling the blade in the direction you want it. The only thing that this plow lacks is a winch, which you will need if you don’t own one in order to operate the plow for lifting.

Depending on where you live, you might need an industrial-grade snow blower like this NorTrac which connects to your category1 tractor. As I update this article, it was only a day ago that parts of New York were buried in over 6-feet of snow. It’s late November of 2023 and the snow season has begun in full force. A NorTrac snow blower is effective at clearing deep snow but it can’t clear 6-feet of snow. Fortunately, most snow storms drop less than 2-feet of snow which this NorTrac can handle with ease.
