Black & Decker | My First Kids Tool Box
This Black & Decker My First Tool Box is the most realistic toy tool set on my list. It looks like the real thing. I think that Black & Decker has done an amazing job at replicating the look and style of real toys with this kids tool box. All the toy tools are indeed plastic, and this 14 piece set includes the following: Hammer, screw driver, kid safe saw, wrench and other assorted tools that you can see in the photo above.
Choking Hazard: Contains small parts. Not for children under 3 years.
The Black & Decker Junior Fun Tool Set is very similar but has more tools and pieces but no tool box.
Very durable and safe. Designed for kids to have fun for many years to come.
Little Tikes | My First Kids Tool box
Little Tikes is a company that was founded in 1970. They have an excellent history of creating meaningful toys for children. Their headquarters are still in Hudson, Ohio. I recently wrote a review of the Little Tikes Lawn Mower, which is one of the most popular toy lawn mower for kids.
This kids tool box includes: 10+ toy tools and instruments, such as a hammer, wrench, screwdriver, ruler, etc. Also comes with a durable carrying case.

Kids Tape Measure
One of the shortcomings of all of these kids tool boxes is the fact that none of them have a proper tape measure. My guess is the manufacture didn’t want to make these toy sets too big so they narrowed their tool choices to the basics. A kids tape measure is a necessary addition to make these toy tools complete. They’re inexpensive and provide your child another way to interact with world. When you think of it, measuring objects around the house is a highly interactive activity.
As a parent, you can ask your child to measure things around the house. Make it a game. They can assist you when you work or you can simply encourage them to interact with the world around them by getting them to measure the coffee table or a plate. Be creative!

This 4 piece worker set is pretty cool if you ask me. These are big boy toys. Nice looking toy set that’s built to last. As you can see in the photo, all the tools are bold and smooth, making them safe for children over 3 years of age. These are official Bosch licensed tools, which is why they look so authentic.

I stumbled across a series of books for kids and one of the books in the series is focused on construction tools to help increase letter and sound recognition as well as improve their fine motor skills through a series of exercises that inspires them to trace letters, as well as encourage independent writing. Also, it’s useful aid to expand their vocabulary and general knowledge through a section entitled “Fun Facts.”
This book would be a wonderful complement to any of these toy tool boxes and would likely inspire your child to play with tools, words and language.
