We live in a day and age where we can simply buy tools to do all of our hard work for us. Moving a trailer around is no easy task, so why make it harder than it needs to be. Nowadays, more companies are creating motorized dolly’s that are easy to use and won’t break down when you need it the most.
Best Value Motorized Trailer Dolly: 3600 lbs. Max Weight
SuperHandy Trailer Dolly —
This is a new trailer dolly for 2023. It’s an electric. Overall, it’s well-made but I would only recommend it for lightweight trailers. In other words, don’t push it to the max weight of 3600 lbs., in fact, consider it if you have a trailer under 3200 lbs., just to be on the safe side. It’s never a good idea to push power equipment to their maximum rating, and depending on the manufacturer, you never really know how much wiggle room you have unless they specifically show you their test results.
SuperHandy is relatively new brand so you might wonder whether or not you can trust them. In general, their products are above average but not exceptional. Most of their products are rated around 4 out of 5, which is pretty good considering how new they are to the market. Their motorized dolly is the best value you’ll find, in my opinion. Customer sentiment is trending at 3.8/5 for this trailer dolly. Do some research and read the customer comments before you decide to buy. No product is perfect but you’ll find some extreme reviews about almost all trailer dolly’s. I think the reason is because people are using them for a wide range of trailers and consumers don’t always choose the right product for the weight class of their trailer.
Features : SuperHandy
- Powered by DC 24V 7Ah 800W electric driven motor.
- Maximum Trailer Weight: 3600 LBS/1620kgs,

- MAX OPERABLE SLOPE 4° degree (DO NOT OPERATE ON INCLINE or DECLINE above Max Slope) (Operate on hard surfaces like Asphalt/Concrete, DO NOT operate on soft surfaces like gravel, sand/loose dirt)
- Heavy duty steel constructed frame with exceptional maneuverable wheels. The ‘Patented Adjustable Ball Attachment Mechanism’, provides greater mobility & application of use. Also Patented is our ‘Drive System’, producing maintenance-free performance for years to come.
Best Robotic Motorized Trailer Dolly / Heavy-Duty
Trailer Valet RVR9 / up to 9000 lbs.
The RVR9 is one of the most expensive motorized trailer dolly’s you can buy and it’s also the most advanced series of dolly’s. It’s remote controlled enabling you to stand up to 40 feet away to maneuver your trailer wherever you want to take it. The heavy duty Caterpillar threads can move over a wide variety of terrain without getting stuck but you still have to be cautious of where you take it. In other words, this isn’t a 4×4 so don’t expect to pilot this through the Sahara desert.
You get everything you need to drive both dual-axle or single-axle trailers. It has a lithium-ion battery that will give you up to 30 minutes of running time. Don’t expect it to be effective on steep inclines. Most motorized dolly’s struggle with inclines. If you plan on using this conservatively I think you’ll find this a very effective electric robot dolly.
If you need even more weight capacity then look at the Trailer Valet RVR12 which can move a trailer up to 12,000 lbs.
Features: RVR9
- Rechargeable lithium ion battery / up to 30 minutes of run-time.
- Remote control / Control up to 40 feet away
- Can move in 360 degrees, giving you complete control
- Easy to move you trailer into tight spaces
- Tongue Weight Cap : 900 lbs.
- Has Heavy-duty caterpillar treads that can handle various terrains.
- Compact design: 22 in x 18 in x 12 in / 77 lbs
- Includes 4 planetary gear motors that can drive both single and dual axle trailers.
- Includes : Trailer Valet RVR Base and Ball Set attaching the unit to your trailer coupler. Interchangeable 2 inch and 2-5/16 inch hitch balls.
►Best Cheap Drill-Powered Trailer Dolly — Trailer Valet XL
For trailers up to 10,000 lbs.
Compatibility : Majority of trailers between — 5,000-10,000 lbs / 400-1000 lbs tongue weight. Optimal use with 10 to 12% tongue or vertical trailer weight.
This is not a fully motorized trailer dolly as it’s powered by a drill. This will still require some effort and muscle to move your trailer but it’s far better than manual but not even close to the efficiency you’ll find in a fully motorized and automated trailer dolly. If you’re on a tight budget then you’ll find this to be a practical dolly to help you move your trailer around. But, I will say, if you have the money, buy a complete motorized system like the Parkit360 FORCE.

Best Motorized Trailer Dolly
Getting your trailer hitched to your vehicle takes time and is seriously back breaking work. There’s really no need to call for help when you’re preparing to head out on your journey whilst towing a trailer. Using a motorized trailer dolly makes it easy for you to get your trailer perfectly lined up by yourself, with absolutely no effort.
By using an electric motor, these dollies do all the work for you. Whether you’re parked on an incline or need to maneuver in a tight space, you’ll have absolutely no problem. The best motorized trailer dolly’s are the following models:
- Parkit360 Force : Motorized / up to 10,000 lbs.
- SuperHandy Trailer Dolly : Motorized / up to 3600 lbs.
- Trailer Valet TVXL25 : Drill-Powered / up to 10,000 lbs.
- Tow Tuff TMD-35ETD8 : Motorized / UP TO 3500 lbs.
You have to be careful when choosing the best motorized dolly for your particular trailer. Every model has its advantages and disadvantages. Also, some models are only good on flat surfaces and can’t handle inclines. Some models are only good on flat surfaces and stumble once you put them on grass or bumpy ground. You need to take a look at the environment you’ll be using the dolly and honestly determine what you need.
If you’re willing to do a bit of hand cranking, the Trailer Valet 5X V211 is worth considering. It doesn’t have the convenience of an electric motor but costs a good deal less than a motorized trailer dolly. So, perhaps you don’t have the cash to splash out on a high-end motorized trailer dolly, but still, want to easily move your trailer by yourself – then you’ll love this one.
Video | A Closer Look at the Tow Tuff TMD-35ETD8
The Trailer Valet XL is the big brother to the 5X V211 and is an excellent option if you want a cheaper dolly, but still, want the option to move it with electric assistance. We can view the Trailer Valet XL as a sort of hybrid. While it’s essentially a hand cranking model, it can be used as a motorized trailer dolly as it allows you to connect it to a hand drill, which will do the manual labor for you.
With these three options, you’ll be able to consider your budget and choose a high-quality trailer mover that is perfectly suited to you. Obviously, if you have the cash to spend, a motorized trailer dolly is going to be your best option. For many it just isn’t worth paying the extra buck, in which case, the cheaper models will certainly make things much easier than pushing your trailer with a bunch of guys – yelling and screaming to coordinate your motions and trying not to smash into the back of your car.
Tow Tuff TMD-35ETD8 / 48V Trailer Dolly
For this Tow-Tuff trailer dolly make sure the height of your hitch mount is over 21.5″ or this won’t work for you. It’s well made but you need to make sure that your trailer will work specifically with this dolly or else don’t buy it.
Features :
- Move utility, boat, cargo trailers, and fish houses; two 13-inch tires; one 8-ince swivel caster (3500 pound capacity with 600 pound tongue capacity)
- 3rd wheel design stabilizes the load to move trailers and equipment safely; step adds foot leverage
- Variable speed in forward and reverse travels 1.5 MPH; Powered by two 24V sealed 7 AH batteries
- Adjustable ball height of 22 to 28.35” / works with a 2-inch coupler
- Dimensions (L x W x H): 45 x 24 x 36 inches / Weight: 110 pounds;
We’ll start with the cheapest option, which is not a motorized trailer dolly but offers a very reasonably priced alternative. We’ll move up the price range and finally review the ultimate motorized trailer mover for those who are happy to spend the extra money on a machine that will do all the hard work for you at the touch of a button.

You can move it at a good speed in high gear and when you need extra power, the low gear will make it possible to move your trailer up an incline with very little strength needed.

This makes it really easy to turn the trailer up 90°, so you can move the trailer in our out of any position without going back and forth. When you release the steering handle it will return to the upright position and automatically engages the brake. This is a fantastic feature and it means that your trailer will never run away from you.

A standard kit containing two drive motors and all the necessary attachments will drive a single axle trailer weighing 5000 LBS. For double axle trailers, one can use four motors that will give a load capacity of 6500 LBS.
The kit needs to be installed correctly, which takes some technical skill, if you’re wanting to do it yourself, this video will show you exactly how to go about it. This will take a bit of effort and many may prefer to have a professional do it for them. However, once installed, you’ll never worry about moving your trailer in or out of any position. You can install the mounting brackets to any number of trailers, so it’s possible to use the same motors by quite easily swapping them from trailer to another.

Choosing the Right Trailer Dolly
The most important thing to consider is the trailer weight. Whether it’s a manual or motorized trailer dolly, they all have a maximum weight capacity. Remember that you need to factor in the trailer weight and the load that the trailer will be carrying.
The tongue weight will match the load weight for the normal construction of the trailer but you may be carrying extra weight on the tongue, so you need to be aware of this. Many trailers have storage boxes on the tongue, these boxes usually hold tools, accessories and other items that you may be using. Often the spare wheel is also mounted to the tongue. You’ll need to consider the extra weight that the tongue is carrying and in some cases, you may need to remove some of the extra weight to match the dolly’s tongue load capacity.
Having the best wheels will make things much easier. Pneumatic (Inflatable) wheels are a real bonus when you’re moving the trailer on gravel or sand. Good tire tread will also help. Having double wheels on the dolly will also make it make much more effective and easier to use.
