Best Kids Tool Bench
Melissa & Doug : Solid Wood — High Quality
A toddler workbench will ignite the curious mind of any child and give them something meaningful and rewarding to do when they play. I’ve made it my mission here at Chainsaw Journal to discover and write about toys that encourage kids to go outside and play. That’s why I created a section entitled Outdoor Kids to share toys that will inspire kids to imagine and play in a meaningful way.

Now, I want to share with you the best toddler workbench for your child for ages of 6 months old and up. There’s a toy tool bench in this article for any child, no matter what the age.
I truly believe that all of these toy benches are fantastic in their own way. Far too many toys are mindless and dull, which tend to dull the mind of the child playing with them. Why wouldn’t you want to encourage your child to learn and grow as they’re playing. If a child is engaged with their toys or friends, they don’t analyze it. But while they’re laughing, exploring and figuring things out, their mind is lighting up and making connections that will serve them for a lifetime.
I feel strongly about this because what happens in a child’s early years makes a huge impact later in life. I’m not saying that these toddler workbenches are the only toys that will engage their minds, but they’re one type of toy that you should consider.

Lastly, you’ll find a toddler workbench for any budget. But honestly, these toys are fairly inexpensive for the amount of tools you get, comprised of the bench itself and then all of the tools and accessories. I’m quite surprised as to how cheap some of they toy tool work benches are but we attribute that to the fact they’re mostly made in China.
All of these toys are excellent for your child’s development, including improving the following:

Recommended Age: 4 years and up.
The Home Depot Master Workshop is the most expensive kids tool bench on the list but it’s also the most elaborate and exhaustive in scope. Look at this thing — it’s crazy how much they’ve included into this toy.
Comes with an impressive 60 piece accessory kit that includes realistic Durafoam wood project parts for your child’s projects. There’s lots of storage to keep everything organized and to prevent losing parts, although your child will probably lose stuff as they always do.
I love that it comes with an electric chop saw and drill press. And the working task light is a nice added feature as well.
I’m genuinely impressed with the quality and scope of this kids tool bench. I can ramble on about it but just look closely at the pictures and you can see for yourself how fun this would be for any child. It’s not cheap but it’s worth what you’re paying for as I’m sure this will provide many years of fun learning experiences. Although, as a parent you probably won’t look forward to assembling this particular toy.
I can’t really add anything more as the pictures tell it all. Although this is a Home Depot toy it’s actually made by Step2, which is an excellent toy manufacturer so you know the quality is very high.

One of the unique features of this toy is that your child can cut the wood pieces and the way that illusion is created is via the use of magnets at the end of the wood board. You probably haven’t heard of the Berry Toys but when I stumbled upon this kids tool bench I was intrigued and felt compelled to included in this article. The color scheme tells me that they (the designers) created this toy for boys, not girls.
This isn’t my top recommendation, in fact, it’s at the bottom of the list because it doesn’t have a proven history of customer satisfaction. But, if you want something a little different this might satisfy your needs.
We all have our own unique taste so I try to add as much variety as possible to my product selection because I can’t predict what a child (or adult) will like. Because the design and color choices are strong I can see that this is a kids tool bench that boys will either love or hate. I can’t imagine someone being indifferent to this particular toy.
Toy Tool Bench for Boys
- Made of safe non-toxic plastic.
- Realistic workbench and tools.
Kids Tool Box
Recommended Age: 3 years and up.
The Melissa & Doug Wooden Take Along Tool Kit is the most basic out of all the toys in this article but sometimes simplicity is good. Don’t be fooled as this toy has 24-pieces, which include: wooden nails, screws, nuts and bolts. Your child will enjoy playing with the hammer, wrench and screwdriver to build stuff.
This is an excellent toy for building your child’s motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Yes, this toy is limited compared to all the other toddler workbenches but it’s inexpensive, well-made and extremely popular for those reasons.

This KidKraft kids tool bench is another of my favorites. It has a lot in common with the Hape Master Workbench in terms of design. I think that toy designers are borrowing from each other as this “IKEA” look seems to be popular at the moment. Does it remind you of IKEA? Or maybe it’s just me.
Either way, I love the working vice and buzz saw. Your child can actually ‘fake cut’ the wood. It’s a cool effect that kids will love. Plenty of pieces to stimulate the imagination of a young child. I have plenty of pictures that will communicate more than my words, so without further adieu, check out the beautiful styling of this toy workbench.
The major criticism of this toy tool bench is the fact that it’s not as stable as it should or could be. This isn’t a trivial matter as children will be knocking this toy around. For that reason I’d caution against buying it if your child is a little too wild.
Personally, I recommend the Hape Master Workbench as it’s built tough and sturdy. Taste is a personal thing but stability is an important factor when deciding which toy tool bench to buy for your child.

I guarantee, this toy will be a big hit with your child for either Christmas or his/her birthday.
