The community for chainsaws, arborists, and logging is a very active community filled with passion and insight that you can easily tap into. If you have a question I can guarantee you that someone in these forums will be more than happy to help you out — and if you have knowledge to share then I strongly encourage you to get involved and participate in the discussions.
Here are some excellent forums that I hope you’ll take the time to visit and perhaps join:
Arborist Site
I believe this is the largest site online centered around arborists, chainsaws and firewood processing.
Forestry Forum
This is straight from the website, and I like it so much I’m sharing it verbatim:
Do you have trees to grow? Logs to saw? A forest to manage? Chainsaws to fix? A sawmill to purchase or maintain? Timber related business to run? Lumber to dry? Trees or plants to identify? A cabin to build? Are you hungry and like FOOD? Or would you just like to pull up a stump and visit with a friend?
Arb Talk
A UK forum focused on arboriculture topics. An extensive range of topics to browse and contribute to. Very active members who make this a lively site to visit.
Tractor By Net
Primarily a site focused on tractors they also have a chainsaw section. With over 200,000 members and the largest tractor discussion forum in the world. Check it out.
The Tree House (Master Blaster)
A complete site that includes areas such as: chainsaws, logging, climbing and gear — just to name a few. A big member base and a very helpful community. They also have an e-commerce site.
Chainsaws Collectors Forum
An international forum based in England with a focus on collecting chainsaws.
Chainsaw Collectors Corner
An authority site on the chainsaw industry filled with a wealth of information for collectors, with a long-term commitment to everything related to chainsaws. As stated on the site:
This site is intended as a resource for all collectors of antique chain saws and those who work towards the preservation of the history of the Chain Saw Industry
Tree Buzz
An arborist site focused on helping you with your daily tasks as a practicing professional.
Chainsaw Collecting (no forums):
Vintage Chainsaw Collection
A personal site documenting the collection of one man’s vintage chainsaw collection from late 40’s to 70’s.
McCulloch Chain Saws
If you’re interested in vintage McCulloch chainsaws then you’ll love this site. It’s not the prettiest web site around and it hasn’t been updated in awhile but there’s a lot of interesting stuff here if you’re willing to dig around.
One More Useful Site:
UBC Botanical Garden
Although not directly related to chainsaws the UBC Botanical Garden is an excellent resource for any homeowner interested in learning more about plants and trees. And, it’s a few blocks from where I live.
Chainsaw Models
This section is a work in progress. Stay tuned!
This section is comprehensive as it documents every single chainsaw currently being sold at the moment. I thought it might be useful for people who wanted to quickly do research on chainsaws. Hopefully you find value in this list as it was quite time consuming, but I’m happy to do it if it helps you find the information you need quicker than if you had to peruse every chainsaw manufacturers website individually.
These links will take you directly to the manufacturers page for the specific model you select.
