I don’t think there’s a child in the world today that wouldn’t absolutely love one of these. More importantly, these are the type of toys that get kids out of the house and interacting with their environment. These toy tractors have value far beyond their price tag. Just consider the endless hours of joy that these Peg Perego ride on toys will provide to your child.
Best Peg Perego Ride On, and on…
I recently did a feature on the Peg Perego John Deere Ground Force Tractor with Trailer and after finishing that post I started researching the other toys that Peg Perego makes and I was seduced by their selection of cool ride on vehicles for kids — as well as their long history as a manufacturer.
This article will focus on their toy tractors that I have a particular fondness for. I’m not a farm boy or anything but I do yearn for the simpler life so maybe that’s why I’m drawn to the Peg Perego tractors. I don’t know. Either way, I hope you find them as interesting as I do.
Peg Perego History
I had to do some research because I never knew anything about Peg Perego. Honestly, I stumbled upon them this week and was immediately enthralled by their products. So, here’s a short history lesson on the company.
It all started in 1949 when Giuseppe Perego designed a baby carriage for his child. His neighbors were jealous of his creation and asked him to build carriages for their children. You’ve probably heard similar stories before, and it’s an old cliche, but the demand for his baby carriages spread and that’s when he started his own company known today as Peg Perego. His main selling advantage in the early days of the company was that he used rubberized fabric instead of the sheet metal and wicker, which were common at the time.
The company then grew to include a wider range of baby products, such as: strollers, car seats, and high chairs — and in 1960 Peg Perego started creating kids ride on toys. Today, the company creates modern ride on vehicles in partnership with John Deere, Polaris, Case IH, Ducati and Vespa.
I’ve included five Peg Perego ride on vehicles in this article to give you a nice set of options to choose from. These are models that I particularly like and find interesting and fun. Plus, they’re all themed as they are all ride on tractors for kids.
The main reason why I even started adding kids outdoor toys to Chainsaw Journal is because I think it’s important to get kids outside and moving around in nature. Far too many kids are glued in front of the their screens these days and I don’t think it’s the healthiest way to be raised. When I was a kid I’d be outside playing street hockey with my friends, or riding my bike, or inventing our own games.
Here are some other cool outdoor kids toys we’ve covered:
- Toy Fishing Poles for Kids
- Kids Toy Workbench
- Kids Playhouses
- Little Tikes Lawn Mower
- Toy Chainsaws for Kids
- Radio Flyer All-Terrain Wagon
Obviously, these Peg Perego ride on toys are only suitable if you have a large yard that your child can roam freely around so I understand that these aren’t for everyone. But, if you have the physical space and can afford one of these wonderful Peg Perego tractor ride on toys then I highly recommend you take the plunge and surprise your child.
Every single one of these tractor toys are made in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Let’s take a closer look at each one of these kids tractors and you can decide for yourself if they’re as fantastic as I think they are.
Case IH Magnum Tractor with Trailer
Peg Perego Ride On
This model is the Peg Perego Case IH Magnum Tractor with trailer, with an large stake trailer providing your child to haul a wide variety of things, including toys, leaves, and whatever a child might want to move. An aggressive looking toy tractor modeled after a real tractor. If you don’t know, Case IH is an actual manufacturer of tractors, which most people won’t know unless you’re in the farming business. I had no idea that this was inspired and based upon a real-life tractor until I did the research.
Built for children between the ages of 3 to 7 years old, with two speeds plus reverse. It provides parents the ability to lock the second gear so they don’t have to worry about their kids going too fast before they’re ready. Also, Peg Perego has technology they refer to as ‘smart pedal’ which essentially means that as soon as your child takes their foot off the acceleration pedal the tractor will stop, making it safer and easier for children to handle than the typical accelerator and brake pedal adults are accustomed to on their cars.
It has a 12V battery and comes with a charger but I will say right off the bat here that the charger it comes with is very slow, taking many hours to charge. If you read the customer comments on Amazon you’ll notice a trend amongst all of the Peg Perego battery operated tractors with customers recommending buying an extra battery, or another way to go is to purchase the Peg Perego 12V quick battery charger which charges the battery in two hours.
It has a carrying capacity of up to 85 lbs with a comfortable seat that has a flip up arm rest, which is a nice little feature that will be useful as your kids get older.
Very stylish looking Peg Perego ride on tractor that kids will love. You’ll find that most of these toy vehicles have common features so I’ll try to highlight the differences since they really are similar, except for the John Deere Front Loader which is pedal driven, but all the other models are 12V battery operated.

It has large heavy-duty wheels capable of going over a variety of terrain like grass, gravel and dirt. If they’re not in shape now they will be after riding this tractor for awhile.
This vehicle has a front power loader that allows a child to scoop, lift, carry and dump dirt all from the comfort of the driver’s seat. This is another great Peg Perego ride on tractor toy that children will love, but probably not as much as the 12V tractors because it’s going to require some work and effort to move this vehicle around the yard. This is a battery operated vehicle with a front loader that can operated and controlled from the drivers seat.
As with the other rechargeable Peg Perego ride on tractors this one has two speeds with the ability for you to lock the higher gear. Also, it has the smart pedal technology which initiates the brakes as soon as your child takes their foot off the accelerator pedal.
Heavy-duty wheels allow it to traverse a variety of terrain and provides your child the ability to move around easily. Kids love these ride on toy tractors. They really do. If you don’t believe me just read the Amazon comments and hear what parents have to say. I can’t imagine a child receiving one of these and being upset about it. Can you?
John Deere Power Loader
Peg Perego Ride On
This Peg Perego John Deere Power Loader is, oddly enough, based and inspired by a John Deere front loader tractor. Kids will have a great time in this 12V battery powered tractor with 2 speeds and a parental lock for the faster gear. Safety is a top priority at Peg Perego. This also has smart Pedal technology allowing your child to stop this vehicle by simply lifting their foot off the pedal.
The seat is adjustable so as the child grows up it’ll still remain comfortable. The front loader is controlled from the drivers seat, the same as all the other tractors.
If you decide to purchase any of these 12V battery tractors then take the advice from a large majority of parents and purchase either an extra battery or the 12V Quick Battery Charger, both made specifically for these Peg Perego ride on toys. Your kids won’t be too happy when they’re stopped in the middle of having fun because the battery dies on them. I know, it’s more money, but batteries never last as long as your needs, especially with kids.

Which Peg Perego Ride On is Right For Your Child?
As you can see, all of these toy tractors are very similar and as a parent you have a few choices. Do you want one with a loader or a trailer? Do you want your child to have an electric ride on tractor or a pedal driven one? And lastly, what style do you think your child will like the most? You could always ask him or her. As I stated earlier in this article, most of these tractors are very similar and the one that is the odd-ball is the John Deere Front Loader, which happens to be pedal driven.
