A popular, and well-made, STIHL chainsaw designed for kids, to be safe, to be fun to play with.
Stylish looks coupled with a realistic appearance, engages kids viscerally. Makes engine sounds and has a moving rubber chain. You might be surprised to discover how much kids seem to love toy chainsaws — or any toy that resembles adult power tools and equipment — like this Black and Decker Power Tool Workshop that I recently reviewed.

STIHL Toy Chainsaw
This particular STIHL toy chainsaw is very similar to all the other toy chainsaws available for children, which I reviewed in this article: Toy Chainsaws for Kids. I didn’t add this chainsaw to that original list because there’s only one review on Amazon, but after doing some research I realized that a lot of people are looking for a STIHL toy chainsaw, so I felt that I should provide an easy way to find it.
I think the lack of reviews on the STIHL toy chainsaw has more to do with scarcity. Obviously if it’s hard to find and purchase then not a lot of people are able to review it.
Here’s a good video that shows of the STIHL chainsaw in all its glory, including sounds. Excuse the Russian text. The video quality is good.
STIHL has expanded their toy line over the years. They must have finally realized how popular they were. I know that Husqvarna redesigned their entire lineup of their pretend play toys that include a leaf blower, lawn mower, chainsaw, and hedge trimmer. I’m not sure if they’ve added any more tools over the past couple of years. I’d like to see a pretend play snow blower. Now that would be cool and I’m certain kids would love it.
Obviously these toys aren’t STIHL’s bread and butter so they tend to fly under the radar, meaning, STIHL doesn’t promote them. I’ve noticed over the past eight years that toy chainsaws are very popular, especially around Christmas. These are consistent top sellers year after year.
I’d like to warn you about prices. These STIHL chainsaw toys can become so popular they usually sell out online before Christmas and prices increase by quite a lot over the standard retail price. Do you know that STIHL sells their toy chainsaw at their local brick and mortar stores? Yes, they do. If you can’t find it online, call around to your local STIHL dealers and they might have them in stock.
Note : Don’t be surprised if this sells out around Christmastime. I updated this on Dec 15, 2023.

Husqvarna Toy Chainsaw
This toy can be purchased as a stand-alone chainsaw or with a PPE Kit that includes gloves, helmet and glasses.
You get the usual rotating chain and sounds. It also has a light that turns on to give it more life. The pull start is not functional so that’s a bit of disappointment. Watch the video below and you’ll see that it looks pretty cool. Either way, a great gift for kids.
FEATURES:
- Modeled after the Husqvarna 550XP chainsaw
- for kids ages 3 and up
- Makes realistic chainsaw sounds and has a rotating chain that stops upon resistance. Safe for kids.

How big is this STIHL Toy Chainsaw?
Well, it’s not the biggest toy on the block but remember, it is for young kids. It’s 40cm (15.75 Inches) in length. Take out the tape measure and size it up so you’re not surprised when it finally arrives. It includes batteries and is suitable for children 3 years and up.
If you’re interested in toys for kids I created a new section to this site called Outdoor Kids to share my toy ideas that inspire kids to go outside and play — which is something that I think kids need to do more of in this digital age.
I know many people are attached to the STIHL brand, and I have to admit, their toy chainsaw is a slick looking product, but there are other options available. Have a look at: More Toy Chainsaws
