A toy weed eater is a surprisingly fun gift for children. Remember when you were a child and the joy you had when you would run around pretending to do things that you weren’t actually doing. If you have a child then you know how much children love to engage with the world around them and mimic the behavior of their parents. It’s a child’s way of understanding the world around them. Unfortunately, there aren’t many toy weed eaters on the market but I stumbled upon two great toy weed eaters that I feel children will truly love. Sometimes it’s better not to have too many options when buying a product. It’s been scientifically proven that too many choices can be overwhelming and in fact makes it more difficult in making a decision. Husqvarna 223L | Toy Weed Eater
The Husqvarna 223L toy weed eater is my personal favorite from all the toy trimmers I’ve seen. I love the way it looks and that it’s well-constructed from hard plastic which means it will be able to endure the wear and tear that a child will place upon it.
This Husqvarna toy weed eater is safe for children’s 3 years old and up. Another really cool aspect of this toy trimmer is the fact that it makes the typical sound of a weed eater, the bottom spins, and it also has green LED’s that rotate and illuminate when you pull the trigger. It’s a nice inexpensive toy for any active child.
As with most toys safety is always a concern and as you’d expect, this toy trimmer meets all the toy standards for the USA. Never a buy a toy that isn’t.
Adjustable Toy Weed Eater
If you purchase this toy weed eater then you should know that it has an adjustable height via the wing-nut on the handle. Many Amazon customers say that they love the toy but complain that it’s too short. Well, that’s because they are unaware that it’s adjustable, so disregard those concerns. It’s highly rated at 4.4 (out of 5). A great toy for very little money that also comes with 3-AAA batteries necessary to operate.
Personally, this is the one I’d buy but that’s just my preference. If you’re not a fan of it then perhaps you’ll prefer the John Deere power trimmer instead, which happens to be my second pick.
Another unique aspect of this toy weed eater is the fact that it’s based on the real Husqvarna 223L, a 24.5cc two-stroke gas model.

ERTL John Deere Power Trimmer | Toy Weed Eater
The John Deere Power Trimmer is unique in its own right; instead of using batteries it has a starter cord that your child can pull to rotate the translucent bottom of the toy, which also contains colored balls. The good news is that you’ll never have to buy batteries for this toy and your child will get a little extra exercise. This toy weed eater looks less realistic than the Husqvarna toy. I also think it’s a little better suited for younger kids due to its light weight at 1.3 lbs.
The manufacturer is ERTL which is a highly respectable company that makes many very cool toys based on real life products. You can see their full catalog of John Deere related products, which will make your kids mouth water. Luckily, Amazon also carries a lot of their products.
With over 170 reviews it has a solid rating of 3.4 (out of 5). It’s an average rated toy but still respectable. It doesn’t have any lights or weed eater sounds so it’s a little less interesting than the Husqvarna but it’s still a fun toy.

And one last option, just in case you crave variety, is the Home Depot toy weed eater. Unfortunately, it’s not as durable as either of my top two choices and many customers seem to point out the fact that the materials won’t hold up to a child’s abuse. Either way, love it or hate it, it’s another option to consider but not one that I can fully recommend.
Also, it’s the most expensive of the bunch but I know that most shoppers prefer to know their options before being able to make a final decision. Which one will your child like? Well, it’s up to you to decide – or you can just ask him or her. They’ll tell you exactly what they like and they don’t care about ratings.
Which is the Best Toy Weed Eater?
There’s really only two options to choose from here, unlike when shopping for a toy chainsaw or toy fishing poles. I guess kids weed-eaters are not that popular but they’re unique gifts and far more interesting than the more common toys you can buy these days.
I think it’ll boil down to which of these toys you think looks the best, either the Husqvarna 223L toy weed eater or the John Deere Power Trimmer. I prefer the style and features of the Husqvarna but I’m not a kid. What do I know.
