Pool Cleaning: The Pressurized Way
A pool was a luxury at one point of time. Today however, there are an increasing number of people who own pools. In fact, the current trend is to have a pool in your backyard. With the rising global temperatures having a pool in the backyard makes a lot of sense.
We all know that pools come in all shapes and sizes. In fact, when we get our pool installed, we spend hours deciding and designing how we want it to look. It however doesn’t matter how big the pool is or what it looks like. Every pool needs to be maintained. This is what causes most people to stumble. Most pool owners do not realize how important maintaining a pool is.
The main part about the maintenance of the pool is ensuring that it is kept clean at all times. The larger the duration between each cleaning is directly proportional to how dirty the pool will be. Most people will wonder why this is important. After all, the pool just contains water and we do use water to clean everything. So why do we need to clean water?
The first thing that every pool owner needs to understand is that cleaning the pool is not just for your comfort. It is also for your health and safety. An unclean pool propagates the growth of microorganisms and algae. The microorganisms can cause a serious health risk and can even cause asthma like symptoms in those affected by the condition.

The algae not only makes the water green and dirty, it can also cause a number of accidents. This is because they form a smooth slimy layer on the tile surface of the pool. It is this slime that is the underlying cause of many falls.
Algae and microorganisms are just the substances that we can’t see. In addition to this, there are a number of products that are visible to the naked eye. By this we mean dust, twigs, leaves etc. that blow towards the pool and land up in the water. Without regular cleaning, the amount of dirt in the pool begins to build up and makes the pool water unusable.
Cleaning the pool however is not an easy job. It isn’t a job that any pool owner looks forward to. The world of pool cleaning however has become so much less tedious because of the introduction of pool cleaners. They pose a fast and easy way to tackle the problem.
Why Do We Need Pool Cleaners?
A pool is meant for relaxation but most owners find themselves more stressed than relaxed. This is because maintaining a pool involves a lot of work and a lot of expense. The advent of the pool cleaners has made the life of a pool owner so much less stressful. Instead of spending hours figuring out how to clean his pool, the pool owner can now spend the same time enjoying the water.
Most people think twice about buying a pool cleaner. This is usually because the pool cleaner requires a certain amount of initial investment. People shy away from this because they think that it is too expensive. Pool cleaners however, are essential in reducing our stress.
We hate to clean our vessels by hand. Clothes are another topic all together! We can’t imagine spending two or three gruesome hours slaving away at the sink let alone scrubbing clothes! Not only is it tiring but most people find that it is a complete waste of time. People never hesitate when it comes to buying a dishwasher or a washing machine. That’s why it’s always a surprise when people hesitate to buy a pool cleaner.
Why would a person want to waste so much time when there is a device that can do it for him? A pool cleaner essentially frees up so many hours in a day and makes your holiday so much more pleasant. It gives you so much more time to spend with your friends and family.
While the pool cleaner may seem expensive at first, you need to understand that the device is a long term investment. When you compile the costs you will incur over the years (related to pool cleaning), you will find that getting a pool cleaner isn’t a bad idea after all. In fact, today’s newest generation of pool cleaners can be surprisingly energy efficient.
Let’s take a look at one of the best pool cleaners in the market!
Pressure Pool Cleaners
While the name suggests that the device generates pressure, pressure pool cleaners actually use the pressure that is generated by the return of water from the filtration system. In other words, this device is attached to the return flow pipe of the filtration system. The pressure side pool cleaner uses the pressure to form a suction vortex. This suction vortex then proceeds to pull the surrounding debris into the bag.
Almost every pressure side pool cleaner requires a dedicated booster pump. These booster pumps push water through the cleaner and produce a stream of water. This water dislodges the dirt and debris. The dirt and debris is then sucked into the pool cleaner via the suction vortex. Hayward recommends the Hayward 6060 booster pump to be used with their TriVac series.
Since the pressure side pool cleaner has a large throat design, it easily draws in the large debris. This makes the pressure side pool cleaners ideal for those pools which tend to have a large amount of leaves, sticks, twigs and acorns accumulating in them.
Hayward Pool Cleaner Series
Hayward functions on the belief that a clean pool is an inviting pool. They offer superior, innovative and patented devices that help combat the problem of keeping the pool clean at all times. The Hayward pressure side pool cleaner series comes with a number of models.
Hayward offers single source solutions. This means that they produce equipment that is essential for the comprehensive management of a pool. With over 80 years of experience, Hayward has gained an understanding of what people want a pool cleaner to be like. They have used this information and designed their devices accordingly. Let us take look at one of the most popular models to understand how the Hayward pressure side pool cleaners work.

The Hayward TriVac 500 (Model: TVP500) provides a simple approach to pool cleaning. This device belongs to the group of pool cleaners called ‘Pressure Side pool cleaners’. Like all pressure side pool cleaners, the Hayward TVP500 TriVac 500 uses pressure to function.
How does the Hayward TVP500 TriVac 500 work?
The Hayward TriVac 500 functions on the basis of a patented aqua drive technology. The technology uses water jets to propel the device in different directions. To understand how the device moves, you first need to understand that the water jets generate a certain amount of pressure. The device then uses this pressure to maneuver in the direction that it needs to go.
Now motion isn’t the only important thing in a pool cleaner. Its cleaning capacity is another important consideration. The Hayward TriVac 500 (TVP500) comes equipped with a Triple venturi jet action which is coupled with a wide vacuum inlet. The venturi jet dislodges the dirt and debris from the pool floor and the wide vacuum inlet ensures that the dirt is sucked up.
Corners are usually the places that act as hurdles for the pressure side pool cleaners. The Hayward TVP500 TriVac500 has solved this problem with the incorporation of the advanced sweep hose. This hose enables it to cover all the inaccessible crevices and corners.
Simple And Easy Maintenance
The Hayward TriVac 500 boasts of both simple and easy maintenance. It does this with the help of an extra long debris bag. The debris bag has a capacity of 6 quarts. This means that the debris bag has a larger capacity when compared to most of the other pressure side pool cleaners. Since the size of the bag is much larger, the Hayward TriVac can work for much longer without a bag cleaning.
The Pool Coverage
When you choose a pool cleaner you need to know what kind of pool coverage it offers. The Hayward TVP500 TriVac 500 works best in pools that are under 20 feet by 40 feet. This means that if your pool has an area equal or lesser than this, then the device will be able to provide adequate coverage and clean your pool well. The cleaning path width has also been defined at 9 inches. This means that the Hayward TVP500 TriVac 500 will cover a 9 inches wide path each time it moves up and down.
This device can be used in in-ground pools that are made up of gunite, vinyl, pebble, tile and even fiberglass.

Hayward TriVac 700 | TVP700 | Pressure Pool Cleaner
*Coming soon. Available April/May 2016.
The Hayward TriVac 700 will be made available from April 2016. This model is just like the Hayward TriVac 500 but the only difference is that it has a few additional features. Let’s take a look at what the most awaited launch has in store for us.
The Working Mechanism
The working mechanism of the Trivac 700 is very similar to the TriVac 500. This device uses the pressure generated by water jets to propel itself. The patented technology that is used is called the Aqua Drive water jet propulsion technology which is exclusive to all Hayward pressure side pool cleaners.
What’s Different?
As mentioned before both the TriVac 500 and the Trivac 700 function on the basis of the use of the same patented technology. They also share almost all of the features. There is one feature however that sets the TriVac 700 apart from the TriVac 700. This is its ability to skim the surface of the water.
Let’s backtrack a little so we can understand how the TriVac 700 does this.
You must have seen people cleaning the surface of the water with nets. This is because the pressure side pool cleaners only clean the pool floor and tile surface. The TriVac 700 has been incorporated with a ‘Top Skimming feature’.
All that the owner has to do is select the function that he prefers. The dial on the top of the device can be turned so as to select if the pool owner needs the water to be skimmed or if he needs the floors to be cleaned. This quite literally puts the choice in the pool owner’s hands.
So how can you choose between the Hayward TriVac 500 and the TriVac 700? The answer is essential very clear and simple. It all depends on where you pool is situated and what kind of debris it collects. If the pool collects a lot of floating debris then TriVac700 is the obvious answer. The TriVac 500 however is not a bad option in case your pool doesn’t have a lot of floating debris.
